We’ve been a bit quiet since the election, keeping our heads down and our hot takes to ourselves.
But we’re proud of the impact we had during 2024 – we brought a data-driven approach to Get Out the Vote programs and supported dozens of organizations and campaigns with an innovative platform for texting, automations, and data integration.
With 2025 ramping up, we wanted to send an update about our vision for Daisychain – grounded in the problems our clients are facing and the solutions we’re building.
In 2024, many progressive organizations and Democratic campaigns struggled to make authentic connections with voters, volunteers, and donors. There are a LOT of reasons for this, but we’ll focus on a few that are relevant to Daisychain:
1) Data chaos.
Campaigns and organizations are using lots of different tools (one for fundraising, another for events, a third for texting, etc.), and these tools usually don’t play nicely together. This means that organizations are struggling with messy, siloed, low-quality data. And without clean, accurate, and integrated data, it’s very difficult to run effective campaigns to recruit volunteers, raise money, or turn out voters.
Daisychain can help manage this chaos by bringing together data from the progressive technology tools you might already be using (like ActBlue, Mobilize, Action Network, VAN, etc.) as well as data from other sources (like Facebook Ads and Google Forms). With just a few clicks, you can set up real-time integrations: Daisychain automatically matches records from different systems to create a streamlined view of people that combines information from events, donations, messaging, and CRM systems.
2) Spammy outreach.
The relentless barrage of over-the-top, cookie-cutter fundraising reached a fever-pitch in 2024. If you talk to “regular people” about politics, you’ll probably get an earful about how gross and annoying these scammy emails and text messages are. And if you talk to fundraisers, they’ll tell you they send these messages because they work – by which they mean, it raises more money than it costs to send. They’ll also tell you that sending more personalized messages to more targeted audiences is genuinely hard to execute.
We think Daisychain can be part of the solution here. With an organization’s data properly integrated, Daisychain lets you target your messages to exactly the right audience. And Daisychain’s advanced personalization features means that it’s easy to send tailored, engaging messages that inspire action, not eye-rolls.
If you’re curious about what this message personalization looks like in practice, check out our new case study that covers how Vote Rev Action Fund used Daisychain’s unique messaging features in the 2024 election.
(And while Daisychain started as a single-channel platform focused on texting, we know that orchestrating communications across channels is key for effective engagement – which is why we’ll have a big announcement to make on this front soon. Stay tuned. 🙂)
3) Ignoring organizing.
For years, grassroots organizing has been ignored and under-resourced. Piles of cash are plowed into TV and streaming ads that have diminishing returns, while organizing programs and grassroots groups get scraps. Successful social and political movements have always been powered by real relationships, and we ignore organizing at our collective peril – especially as we enter a second Trump administration. But organizing is hard, and most digital tools aren’t built with organizers in mind.
Daisychain is built for organizing. Automations means that busy organizers never miss a follow-up. Assignments ensure that distributed organizing systems can scale without losing accountability. Pathways make it easy to create and track multi-stage supporter journeys. These features of Daisychain have been built with non-technical organizers in mind: easy-to-learn, time-saving, and scalable.
We’re excited about what we’ve built so far, and what clients have already done with Daisychain. But we know that there’s crucial work to be done in the months and years ahead, and we’re just getting started.
